To provide culturally sensitive health related information, direct services, education, research and technical assistance to reduce and eliminate HIV/AIDS and other health disparities within the urban community of Philadelphia and vicinity.”

 

 

Founded in 1985, BEBASHI ~ Transition to Hope was the first HIV/AIDS services organization in the United States to target to urban community, particularly communities of color. Through its continuum of HIV/AIDS prevention, advocacy and direct services including street outreach, prevention education workshops, counseling and testing for HIV, sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy, case management, support groups, hepatitis awareness, breast cancer awareness campaigns, and a food cupboard; each year, BEBASHI touches the lives of approximately 21,000 people. Our mission is to provide culturally sensitive health related information, direct service, research, and technical assistance to the urban community. Bebashi’s mission statement is: “To provide culturally sensitive health related information, direct services, education, research and technical assistance to reduce and eliminate HIV/AIDS and other health disparities within the urban community of Philadelphia and vicinity.”
